ABRIDGED RESUME OF ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DAVID FONDA
MBBS, MD, B.Med.Sc, FRACP, FAFRM
David is the Consultant Geriatrician at Cabrini Medical Centre in Melbourne. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Monash University and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. He has co authored two books, numerous chapters and published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals. He has been invited to lecture in 20 countries on topics related to aged care and incontinence. More recent work has focused on various aspects of dementia, and reducing falls and serious injuries in hospitalized patients.
Professor Fonda has chaired various national and international groups related to incontinence including the section on the elderly for the W.H.O. International Consultation on Incontinence from 1998 to 2004. From 1998 to 2002 he was Chair of the $15 million Federal Government’s Expert Advisory Committee to the National Continence Management Strategy to develop a national framework and implementation strategy for incontinence. He has been a member of the ICS Board and inaugral co-chair of the ICS Continence Promotion Committee. He has sat on a number of ICS Standardisation Committees.
