Anne K. Pelletier Cameron, MD, FRCSC, FPMRS is Professor of Urology at the University of Michigan and Associate Chair of Quality and Safety and Service Chief for the Department of Urology as well as director of the Clinical Urology Research Endeavor (CURE).
She was born in New Brunswick, Canada the eldest of three children and graduated as Valedictorian and high school president at Miramichi Valley High. She received her undergraduate degree in Science at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton as a Beaverbrook Scholar graduating magna cum laude. She completed her medical degree at the University of Ottawa followed by residency in Urology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. While in Halifax she met her husband Mike Cameron and were married just before relocating to Michigan.
She came to the University of Michigan in 2007 for a two-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction after being recruited by Dr. Edward McGuire. During her fellowship she developed a passion for research and collaboration with our colleagues in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Cameron was then recruited to stay at the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in Urology in 2009 and has been very productive clinically, in research and education. Her clinical interests include complex incontinence, female urethral disease, urodynamics and the care of neurogenic bladder. Within the department she has served as Service Chief and Associate Chair of Safety and Quality since 2019.
Dr. Cameron has been the lead of the observational cohort for the NIDDK funded Symptoms of Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Network for both LURN I and the ongoing LURN II endeavors. Other research that is ongoing is continued work on several trials in the care of neurogenic bladder and prevention of urinary tract infections in this vulnerable population.
She has a strong interest in medical education having served as a Doctoring faculty for the medical school as well as the urology clerkship director. Currently she is part of the residency Core Educational Faculty and Associate FPRMS Fellowship director and gives many educational lectures locally and nationwide.
Dr. Cameron is active with the Society of Women in Urology serving on their Board of Directors currently as President elect and as their annual meeting planner for 2022. She is also very active with the AUA serving on the Core Curriculum as well as a member the on the Neurologic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Guideline Committee. Dr. Cameron has also been very active with the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction serving on the Executive Committee and the SUFU Urodynamics Antibiotic Prophylaxis Task Force and was awarded their Paul Zimskind research award in 2018.
