Clinical:
Dr. Valiquette is a Urology Surgery Specialist at the Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM). He specialises in investigation and treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy, urinary stones, urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Valiquette did his urology training at Université de Montréal (U de M). After his training, he did a Fellowship in Urodynamics in Nantes (France-1984) and one in Uroprosthetic surgery and Endourology in Houston (USA-1985).
Academic:
Dr. Valiquette is Professor in the Department of Surgery at U de M. He teaches surgery and urology at both pre- and post-graduate levels. He has been program director for urology training, and member of the accreditation committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has been involved in numerous clinical research studies, many of which relate to the pharmacological and surgical treatment of BPH, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, erectile dysfunction, urinary stones, and also medical informatics. He has over 200 scientific papers, summaries, and book chapters to his credit. He is a member of many scientific societies.
Administrative:
Dr Valiquette is chair of the department of surgery at U de M. He is also chief advisory clinician for the Clinical Information Systems at CHUM. He is the immediate past president of the Société Internationale d’Urologie. He has previously been chair or member of the organization committee of more than twenty national or international urology meetings. He has been chief of the council of physicians at CHUM, and head of division for urology at the same institution. He is a past President of the Quebec Urological Association and Canadian Urological Association. He sits on advisory boards of pharmaceutical and medical devices companies, and on the board for not-for-profit societies.
