The ICS Standardisation Steering Committee (SSC) is pleased to confirm that we have a new terminology document Working Group (WG) open for application-the ICS Terminology for lower urinary tract/pelvic floor dysfunction in Transitional Care.
The SSC is launching a Working Group on the Terminology for Lower Urinary Tract/Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in Transitional Care to provide clarity of definitions and terminologies required for research and clinical practice. Transitional medicine is in its inception. The term denotes the transfer of care from the paediatric to adult setting. Appropriate transition supports improved health and quality of life outcomes. Ensuring the terminology is standardised minimises ambiguity. Several disciplines have a role in this field, therefore, standardised terminology would also aid inter-disciplinary communication and understanding.

The project can be challenging due to the broad ranging scope as well as the timeline involved in its completion. The interdisciplinary and international camaraderie in participating in a working group can lead to individual and collective expansion of knowledge which is very rewarding. Setting the foundation right is crucially important, and you will play an important part in this.
