Welcome to the official visa information page for delegates. This page provides essential details to help you navigate the visa application process smoothly.
Do You Need a Visa?
Whether you need a visa to enter Spain depends on your nationality. Citizens of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and several other countries do not need a visa for short stays.
Visit Spain's official tourism website to check whether you need a visa.
Countries Requiring a Visa
If your country is not on the visa-exempt list, you must apply for a Schengen Visa. The Schengen Visa allows for travel within the Schengen Area, including Spain, for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
Steps to Apply for a Schengen Visa
- Determine the Type of Visa You Need: For the ICS 2024 conference, you will likely need a short-stay Schengen Visa (Type C).
- Collect Required Documents:
- Completed visa application form.
- Valid passport (with at least two blank pages and valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay).
- Two recent passport-sized photos.
- Travel itinerary (flight reservations).
- Hotel reservation or proof of accommodation in Spain.
- Proof of sufficient financial means (bank statements, sponsorship letter).
- Travel insurance covering at least €30,000 in medical expenses, valid in the entire Schengen Area.
- Invitation letter from ICS 2024. This is available to download once you have registered. If you need assistance with acquiring a letter of invitation for visa purposes please contact Tsvetina Berova on tberova@kenes.com
Schedule an Appointment: Contact the Spanish consulate or visa application centre in your country to schedule a visa appointment. Ensure you book your appointment well in advance, as processing times can vary.
Submit Your Application: Attend your appointment and submit your application along with the required documents. You may need to provide biometric data (fingerprints).
Pay the Visa Fee: The fee for a Schengen Visa is typically €80, but it may vary based on your nationality and local regulations.
Wait for Processing: Visa processing can take up to 15 days, but it may take longer in some cases. It's advisable to apply at least 4-6 weeks before your intended travel date.
Additional Tips
- Double-Check Requirements: Visa requirements can change, so always check the latest information on the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
- Travel Insurance: Ensure your travel insurance meets the Schengen Visa requirements.
- Prepare for Your Interview: Be ready to explain the purpose of your trip and provide any additional documents if requested.
