The past two decades have been witness to evolving technology which has transformed the diagnostic and therapeutic approach for men with organic sexual dysfunction. The ability to evaluate arterial, venous and neural pathways essential for normal function has allowed greater understanding of why men experience organic erectile and sexual concerns. While PDE5 inhibitors provide an easy, oral and largely effective treatment for most men, almost 30% will be unable to use or experience adequate resolution of their problems with pharmacotherapy alone.
Over the past decade use of low energy shock wave as well as a host of regenerative approaches have been promoted as potentially curative. This presentation will highlight existing data sets, systematic reviews and met-analyses which have explored these novel treatments and provide a foundation to understand why society guidelines have expressed concerns.
