Aim:
To highlight the various tools which can be used in the assessment of the pelvic floor –
- Dynamic Palpation
- To know where to internally palpate the pelvic floor to identify areas of hypertoncity and hypotoncity
- Visualize the change in a pelvic floor contracting correctly as shown with “before and after” MRI scans
- Manometry, electromyography and dynamometry
- Present a critical review on the use of manometry, electromyography and dynamometry.
- Enable the selection of the appropriate tool and analyze the pelvic floor dysfunctions
- Ultrasound
- Present an evidence-based approach to these tools
- Present their validity and reliability
- Present the relationships between findings, signs, symptoms and diagnosis
