This workshop will give an update on pelvic floor anatomy and possible birth injuries. Evidence for the use of pelvic floor muscle training in prevention and treatment of urinary incontinence during pregnancy and after childbirth will be presented and discussed in addition to possible strategies to improve adherence and implementation of pelvic floor muscle training for pregnant and postpartum women. Many women have probably not been properly informed about the benefits of exercise and how to perform effective contractions. We suggest that the health services in this area have potentials for improvements and discuss possible ways to make such improvements.
